Teacher- Student Model

Master-Apprentice Model

  • When the master is working, he needn't remember his work explicitly. He teaches on the fly.
  • Seeing the work reveals what matters.
  • Talking while doing the work reveals the details.
  • Being in the context reminds one of many tasks.
  • Shift interviewer power to the user.
  • Ask for consent.
  • Explain the context of this interview.
  • Always listen well.
  • Document everything apart from verbal info too.
  • Make sure you wrap up while keeping the user in the loop.

Some of Do’s and Do not’s while taking/making interviews and questionnaires:

Do ask for their past experiences.

Do not pre-decide the outcome of the interview.

Do ask them to demonstrate if relevant.

Do not ask leading questions.

Do make them interact and use the product.

Do not ask them close-ended questions.

Do the task.

Do not prompt the users to complete their sentences.
